FAQ
Dubai Transit Visa Questions, Answered
Who needs one, 48 versus 96 hours, fees, documents and what airlines check at boarding.
Yes. Bolivian passport holders need a visa approved before travel to enter the UAE, even for a few hours. If you stay airside on one ticket, you generally won't meet immigration, but missed connections and overnight rebookings are common on long routes from South America. Our 48-hour transit visa covers a short exit, and the 96-hour version suits a longer stopover.
If you stay airside on a through ticket, usually yes, because the airline's system shows the transfer. But if the itinerary is on separate tickets, or the connection is long enough that you'd need to exit, the agent may refuse boarding without an approved transit visa. Airlines bear the cost if the UAE turns a passenger back, so they check carefully. Arranging the visa with us beforehand avoids that conversation.
The 48-hour transit visa is the usual choice for one night: you can leave the airport, check into a hotel and return for the morning flight. If the connection is more than two days, pick the 96-hour version. Either must be approved before you leave Bolivia and needs a confirmed onward ticket. Your visa for the final destination is separate, so carry that too.
Yes. Students heading to universities in Asia or Australia often break the trip in Dubai. You need a confirmed onward ticket and a passport valid for at least six months; the purpose of the trip beyond the stopover doesn't change the transit application. Your student visa for the destination is separate, so carry it at check-in. We file the UAE part and email you the approval.
