FAQ
Dubai Transit Visa Questions, Answered
Who needs one, 48 versus 96 hours, fees, documents and what airlines check at boarding.
Only if you will pass immigration in Dubai. On one ticket with bags checked to Europe, you normally stay airside. Separate tickets, a hotel stay, or a missed connection mean entering the UAE, which needs a visa approved in advance. We recommend Burundian travellers arrange a 48-hour transit visa with us, and carry your Schengen or UK visa for the onward flight.
Possibly. UAE entry measures introduced in June 2026 reportedly affect travellers arriving directly or indirectly from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and South Sudan, with an exemption reported for those who have spent more than 21 days outside the affected countries. The restrictions remained in place for the DRC as of late September 2026. If you recently visited the DRC, confirm current transit and entry eligibility with your airline and UAE immigration before travelling.
A 48-hour transit visa covers an overnight connection comfortably, if you want to leave the airport for a hotel. If you plan to stay inside the terminal on a through ticket, no visa is normally needed, though a long night airside is tiring. Apply with us with your confirmed onward ticket before you fly from Bujumbura.
One ticket is simpler. Your bags are checked through, the airline is responsible if you miss the connection, and you can stay airside. Separate tickets can be cheaper but mean collecting bags and clearing immigration, which needs a transit visa approved in advance. If you choose separate tickets, apply with us for a transit visa and leave plenty of time between flights.
