FAQ
Dubai Transit Visa Questions, Answered
Who needs one, 48 versus 96 hours, fees, documents and what airlines check at boarding.
The rules are federal, so a French passport is treated the same at Zayed International as in Dubai. Staying airside on a through Etihad ticket is the usual pattern. If you want to see Abu Dhabi, or your connection is long, we suggest a pre-arranged transit visa. It keeps you covered even if the airline moves you to a later flight or a hotel in the city.
Only if you leave the transfer area: for a city visit, a hotel outside the airport, or to collect bags on a separate ticket. Otherwise you change planes airside. Because delays on long-haul routes can push you landside without warning, we recommend having a pre-arranged transit visa ready. Our team can set it up once your Mauritius booking is confirmed.
Yes, but each of you is assessed on your own passport. Your French passport may be listed for entry, while your spouse's nationality might call for a visa approved before flying. To keep the couple together if you leave the airport, apply with us for both. We check each passport separately and tell you clearly what each person needs.
Most airlines run an unaccompanied minor service for younger children, with staff escorting them through the transfer. Teenagers may travel alone under the airline's own rules, and France uses the AST exit authorisation for minors leaving without a parent. If the young traveller will leave the airport in Dubai, a parent can apply with us for their transit visa.
Twelve hours is long enough to leave, have dinner in the city and return relaxed. A pre-arranged transit visa from us means you know exactly where you stand before you land, rather than relying on how rules are read at the desk that night. It also covers you if the second flight slips and you end up needing a hotel.
