FAQ
Dubai Transit Visa Questions, Answered
Who needs one, 48 versus 96 hours, fees, documents and what airlines check at boarding.
Most likely, yes. With separate bookings you usually collect your bags in Dubai and check in again, and that means passing UAE immigration. A Mozambican passport needs a visa approved before travel to do that. If your onward flight leaves within two days, a 48-hour transit visa fits; for a longer gap, choose 96 hours. Apply with us before you leave Maputo so the approval is ready at every check-in desk.
Generally, yes. On a single booking with bags checked through, you stay in the transit area and do not pass immigration. The weak point is disruption: if the connection is delayed overnight or rebooked, you may be stuck airside with no way to reach a hotel. Many Mozambican travellers therefore ask us for a pre-arranged transit visa as cover, and it also helps if check-in staff in Maputo question your connection.
A 48-hour transit visa covers a 30-hour layover with time to spare, as long as your onward flight is booked inside that window. It lets you leave the airport, sleep in a hotel and see a little of the city. If there is any chance the onward flight moves to the next day, the 96-hour option gives more room. Send us both flight bookings and we will check the timing before you apply.
Expect to be asked. Airlines check each passenger against the UAE entry rules before departure, and if your plan involves leaving Dubai airport they need to see the approved transit visa. Keep a printed copy and a copy on your phone, together with your onward ticket and any visa for your final destination. When you apply with us, we send the approval by email so it is easy to show at the desk.
Without a visa, you normally stay inside the terminal while the airline rebooks you, and you may not be able to use a city hotel. Some airlines can arrange help, but it is not guaranteed. This is the main reason we suggest a pre-arranged 48-hour transit visa even for a short connection. If plans change, you can leave the airport, rest properly and return for the new flight.
