FAQ
Dubai Transit Visa Questions, Answered
Who needs one, 48 versus 96 hours, fees, documents and what airlines check at boarding.
Not necessarily. The UAE and the airlines look at the document you actually travel on, and a refugee travel document issued in Germany or Sweden is assessed differently from a Syrian passport. Acceptance for UAE visas varies, so tell us exactly which document you hold before you book. We will confirm whether a pre-arranged transit visa can be filed on it.
Syrian passport holders can generally transit airside through Dubai if their airline confirms the connection and they remain in the international transit area. To leave the airport, they usually need a pre-approved UAE visa, such as a 48-hour or 96-hour transit visa, if eligible. Confirm current eligibility before booking, as visa approval is not guaranteed.
It can. Airlines want at least six months of validity left, and they look closely at passports that are worn, damaged or extended. If your passport was renewed abroad or recently reissued, check the details match your ticket exactly. We review the scan and tell you before applying for a transit visa whether anything is likely to be questioned.
Yes, if your relatives live in the UAE and your onward flight leaves within four days. The 96-hour transit visa lets you clear immigration, stay with family and continue your trip, as long as you leave on the booked flight. If you want longer, a relative with UAE residence may be able to sponsor a visit, or we can advise on a 30-day visa.
