FAQ
Dubai Transit Visa Questions, Answered
Who needs one, 48 versus 96 hours, fees, documents and what airlines check at boarding.
Yes, the passport you use matters because UAE entry and transit requirements can differ by travel document. Hong Kong SAR passport holders are listed as eligible for visa-free or visa-on-arrival entry under applicable conditions, but British National (Overseas) passport eligibility has not been confirmed from an official UAE source. Before travelling, check the exact document with your airline and UAE immigration; a transit visa may be needed if you must pass through passport control.
Choose the 48-hour transit visa on our application form, upload a clear passport scan and photo, and add your confirmed onward booking. Our team checks the details before submission and emails the approval for you to carry. Your passport may qualify for entry on arrival, but a pre-arranged transit visa protects a stopover if rules change or a delayed connection means leaving the airport.
It can be, if your connection is long enough to allow for immigration, travel into the city and getting back through security well before departure. Staying airside needs nothing extra on a through ticket. If you want to go out, we recommend a pre-arranged transit visa so you are not relying on arrival processing, and so any delay to your onward flight is easy to manage from a hotel.
On one ticket, the airline that issued it rebooks you, usually on the next available flight. If that is the next day, you may be offered a hotel, which means leaving the airport. A pre-arranged transit visa from us keeps that simple. On separate tickets, the second airline is not obliged to help, so build in a long gap or ask us about the 96-hour option.
