How to extend 96 hours transit visa to a tourist visa
The Government of UAE offers two kinds of Dubai Transit Visa. A 48 Hour Transit Visa that will not cost you anything and a 96-hour Transit Visa that you can apply for.
Dubai E-transit visa is sponsored by UAE’s best airlines and the VISA will need to be processed before you enter UAE. In normal circumstances, both kinds of Transit Visa are not extendable.

Transit Visa for 96 hours is provided to the individuals with a fee of 156 USD. You will need to apply for this visa in advance with UAE-based Airlines. This visa is not renewable. The validity of this visa is 96 hours from entry into UAE and you will need to leave the place within ninety-six hours from your arrival. To get this Transit Visa you will need to provide the following documents,
- A passport or travel document which is valid for at least six months
- A colour photo of self against a white background.
- An onward ticket booking to a 3rd destination, other than the one you just came to.
A Dubai tourist visa is issued to an individual when the purpose of their visit is tourism and they need to stay in Dubai for a longer period of time. It is a lot different from "96 hours Transit visa".

It is not possible to convert your 96-hour Transit Visa to a tourist visa. The Government of UAE does not allow Dubai Transit Visa extension. So it is not possible to extend 96 hours Transit Visa to a tourist visa. In some cases, exceptions are made. To convert your 96-hour Transit Visa into a tourist visa you will need to apply for it and you can extend it for validity up to 90 days.
